It doesn't matter what Musk really meant with this salute. Robotaxis are exclusively a product for large urban areas, and that population largely didn't like it at all.
For starters Musk made the salute and accompanying arm across the chest gesture repeatedly not just once which could have been an anomaly. Also there are other electric cars such as Polestar available which are as good or imho a better driving experience. And you don't look like a Nazi sympathiser driving one. Musk is following his MO of getting his teeth into an existing gig - before it was Paypal, Tesla etc. - and doing it better. This time it is getting into the Trump government and doing the grifting better: milking the grants and also leading the right wing extremism that gives him political power on X and with Neo Nazi paramilitaries. I hope i am very wrong but it does not look good.
