The pattern of the industry standard coalescing to the design used by a single company that rejects a consensus approach repeats, with the history of the North American use of the standard 120v two-prong plug, when the industry ditched other designs for the design used by Harvey Hubbell.

In this case the Tesla connector is greatly, not just a little bit, better than CCS/J1772. So if it wins it's a very good thing, and you seem to imply that some committee monstrosity based on legacy constraints is the better result. Why is that? The connector is not proprietary any more, though Tesla's network of charging stations is.

The world knows a bit more than 1915, though I would think we could do even better than this, but if you have to have one of NACS and CCS, the choice is not difficult. Aside from NACS being a lot better, it's also by far the most common plug out there.
